From mailman
To Mayor

Kenyan McDuffie, a fourth-generation Washingtonian, grew up in a small tight-knit community called Stronghold in Northeast DC. Kenyan worked as a mail carrier to pay his way through college, went to law school, became a prosecutor including in the Department of Justice’s civil rights division, fighting for victims and fairness. For more than a decade on the Council, he has built a reputation as DC’s trusted leader who turns big ideas into real results to address DC’s greatest challenges with affordable housing, public safety and income inequality.

As Mayor, Kenyan’s vision is simple: a safer, fairer, more affordable and inclusive DC where every resident has a real chance to succeed, regardless of your zip code or socioeconomic background.

But we can’t achieve that through empty promises from another politician without a record to back it up. Now, more than ever, we need leaders who can hit the ground running, stand up to President Trump and make the District a city that every resident is proud to call home.

On the D.C. Council, McDuffie authored DC’s Baby Bonds law, championed community-first public health approach to violence through the NEAR Act, expanded opportunities for Black- and Brown-owned businesses, and delivered libraries, schools, parks, and economic development across all eight wards. Kenyan is a fighter and he will continue to deliver results as DC’s next Mayor.
